Black and white photographic print of a caravan crushed by a tree.
I have made numerous studies, both still and moving, of this evocative subject. I like the black and white version because the contrast between the caravan and the surrounding nature is more subtle when played out in monochrome. I was pleased with the vintage effect of this particular version with its integral aged white border which works so well with the subject. For me, the image is very poignant - a caravan, designed to shelter: a place of holidays, sun, seasides, childhood memories - destroyed and being slowly reclaimed by nature. Something designed to be mobile forever stilled by a tree...I started working with this motif during lockdown and found a sense of hope in this powerful physical symbol of nature asserting its power over man.
