Low colour key mixed media still life painting of a group of old bottles and Buddha head on prepared paper. A search for essence in the stillness of the subjects. A realisation of the importance of the negative spaces and the quietude of the grouping somewhat inspired by Giorgio Morandi, the wonderful painter who has been said to be able to "paint silence". This exploration will be taken further. How far can I go in desaturating/ghosting the objects while still giving them presence?
Medium Mixed media, oil paint, charcoal, pastel on prepared paper
